Another City Hall wedding - my main stomping ground at this point! With each new wedding I capture here the light falls differently and the individuality of each couple leads me to see new shots every time. Opting not to have morning preparation photographs on this occasion we began our photography with two cracking shots as they ascended the steps at Dame Street in Dublin's city centre just a stone's throw north of the river Liffey. The couple opted to walk themselves down the aisle - having witnessed so many weddings myself I'm all for a break with tradition. After a wash-out few weeks May burst into sunshine for this Irish-Iranian celebration and the hall filled with light. An amazing harpist sang them down the aisle and also offered the iconic visual backdrop you see below between the faces of our couple mid-ceremony.
Candles lit, papers signed, the marriage is official! Beautiful natural smiles punctuate proceedings and I'm blessed with the real emotion that I strive to capture in my photograps. Some canapés and refreshments were served to guests while I photographed the formal group shots in the east wing of the hall, before ushering all the guests on to the reception venue so I could take bridal portraits capturing the full glory of the building with out any photo-bombers.
After shooting portraits around the building we took to Parliament Street for the classic street-centre shot with City Hall in the background, leveraging the traffic stopping looks of the newlyweds. Then I rode in the wedding car with the couple to Stephen's Green Club, a hidden-gem private dining club opened especially to the wedding party. This venue is highly recommended for a medium sized wedding as it's rather spacious, classy and steeped in history, and somewhere you would likely never see otherwise. I only had a few short hours with our couple on this occasion so as soon as they were called for dinner I was on my merry way.
If you would like me to photograph your wedding in Dublin, or anywhere for that matter, drop me a line now to see if I'm available. Thank you for checking out my work!
